General description of the project:

The overall aim of the project is to introduce the community to new concepts towards their own environment that will help them develop positive attitudes and better understanding through their own participation.

In order to have a solution of the accumulated waste tires and minimize their effects the importance of our project "Waste Tires Reuse as Playground Equipments" appears.

Conditions and justifications for this project:

Waste tires affect the nature negatively in many ways and forms:

·      · Accumulated tires blight the landscape views and damaging the environment.

·      · Accumulated tires also perform a suitable environment for insects, snakes, and rats.

·      · Open burning of scrap rubber tires poses potential environmental and health effects.  Because of the frequent toxic gazes posed by such combustion (lead and zinc oxides).

·      · Solid particles result from burning tires melt (react) with rainfall water and passes to ground- water so this will create serious problem (groundwater pollution).

The tires reuse project performed and applied ways to get rid of waste tires in nature friendly ways, also it offered a recreation place for kids and local community members to play and have fun, and increasing their concerning about waste tires reuse and their negative effects on the environment and health, Using tires as playground equipments have many advantages: 

1.      Cleaning the environment, i.e. minimize and eliminate the problem of waste tires by encouraging people to replicate the ideas at their own places.

2.      The playground is considered suitable place for kids to make them feel better and unstressed especially at difficulties faced by the Palestinian children (siege, hermetic closure and destruction of the streets (. "Few playground places if any are available in our community in west bank".

3.      The playground will form a safe breathing space for children.

4.      Waste tire playgrounds involve low costs and are easily constructed.

5.      Maintenance cost of such playgrounds is relatively low and the playground equipments last for long time.

6.      The playground is easy to be constructed at any place "Schools, house yards, and gardens….etc".

This Playground was constructed at Beit 'Ur near Ramallah,There are about 1500 children (age below 15) in Beit 'Ur, most of them are suffering from Israeli continuous siege, hermetic closure and destruction, these children need necessary assistance in social, educational, vocational, psychological, and physical needs.

Dair Bze' village - Photo gallery

This Playground was constructed at Dear Bze' village near Ramallah also, There are about 1300 children (age below 15) in this village, additional beneficiaries are the following villages located in the surrounding area: Bil'een and Kofr Ne'meh. These villages are now suffering from severe Israeli siege, which causes serious movement difficulties.
