Construction of bus shelters 'stops'

Bus shelter" means a shelter located at a designated bus stop accepted as such by the Department of Transportation, used to aid in the loading and unloading of passengers for the convenience of passengers of public transportation systems. Taking into consideration that there is no official transportation system in West Bank and Gaza, so using the expression "bust shelter" is for (taxies, mini buses, and fords….etc).

Limited funding is provided by municipalities and local village councils to subsidies the installation of new bus shelters at rural areas.

Since the Israeli government continuous siege, hermetic closure, destruction of the streets and civilian public infrastructure, in addition to not having a systematic public transportation systems, people at villages have to wait for long hours the transportation vehicles to move to the main cities. So this shelter will make it easy for them to wait in better conditions.

Objectives

1.Reduced difficulties faced by people through their daily movement from villages to cities to satisfy their urgent and necessary needs.

2. Facilitate and simplify the mutual movement between passengers and transpiration vehicles (vehicles will stop at known places to pick up passengers)

3. Protect people from waiting long hours under different weather conditions (rainy, cold, and hot days).

4. Reduce traffic accidents by allowing passengers to wait transportation vehicles at known places (shelters) and not at dangerous places near main roads and curves.

5. Create new job opportunities for local community members in constructing the bus shelters.

6.Increasing awareness on road and environment safety issues by drawing some slogans about safe driving practices, road behaviors, road rules and environmental issues.
